Product Description

Ficus elastica, commonly known as the Rubber Plant or Rubber Tree, is a popular indoor plant cherished for its attractive foliage, ease of care, and air-purifying properties. Belonging to the Moraceae family, this evergreen tree is native to tropical regions of Southeast Asia, including India, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The Rubber Plant features large, glossy leaves that are typically oval or elliptical in shape with pointed tips. Its leaves are dark green in color, although variegated cultivars with cream or white markings are also available. Mature specimens can develop a tree-like appearance with a woody trunk and aerial roots.

Planting Instructions

  • Place a layer of small stones or broken pottery at the bottom of the pot to improve drainage.
  • Fill the pot with the prepared potting mix, leaving enough space to accommodate the plant’s root ball.
  • Gently remove the Ficus elastica from its nursery container, taking care not to damage the roots.
  • Position the plant in the center of the pot and fill in the remaining space with the potting mix, pressing down lightly to secure the plant.
  • Ensure that the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface.

Plant Care

  • Remove any yellow or damaged leaves regularly to maintain the plant’s appearance and overall health.
  • Wipe the leaves with a damp cloth occasionally to remove dust and keep them clean and glossy.
  • Prune any leggy or overgrown stems to encourage bushier growth.
