Product Description

Passiflora also known as the passion flowers or passion vines. Passiflora (passion flower) is an evergreen climber with exotic looking flowers, sometimes followed by brightly colored fruits. The Passion Flower is a common roadside weed. It often grows in large masses in ditches and open fields. Passion flower likes moderately fertile, well-drained but reliably moist soils. Full sun or dappled shade is best, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Passion flowers are truly remarkable. Their blooms can pass in as little as a day, but while they’re around, they’re outstanding. Some passion flowers are vines, some bushy, some even produce edible fruits.

    Instructions for planting:

  • Passion flower likes moderately fertile, well-drained but reliably moist soils.
  • Passion flowers need at least 4 full hours of sunlight a day.
  • Site your passion flower vine where it will receive full day sun or light shade. More sunlight tends to produce more flowers.
  • Dig a hole and put the vine in it so the soil on the pot’s root ball is level with that in your garden bed.
  • After planting, water well, gently soaking the soil and settling it around the plants.
  • Some type of support is needed for the vines to grow on. It can be a trellis, a structure or even another plant.
  • The addition of compost to the planting hole will help retain moisture.
  • Passiflora vines are vigorous growers and require regular fertilizing.
    Instructions for care:

  • Passion flowers are low maintenance.
  • Keep the soil moist, but don’t overwater.
  • Make sure your container drains readily.
  • Fertilize your vine regularly.
  • Pruning is basically done to keep the size in check, to remove dead wood and to make the plant fuller.
  • Leaf spotting is generally caused by a fungus disease. Remove affected leaves, to slow the spread, and treat with a fungicide if necessary.
