Grape Ivy is a native of Asian countries. Grape Ivy also known as Oakleaf Ivy, is the most widely grown species of Cissus. Their shiny dark green leaves are really nice to watch on early mornings.This can also be used as a decorating plant as you can decorate your office or room with this. You can hang its foliage in the basket so that it can have a support to grow. This plant is only 18″ tall but can have trailing vines up to 10 ft. of length. The new Grape Ivy plants are less prone to diseases as compared to old varieties. The berries of this plant are not edible ,but the plant is grown for decorations. The colour of foliage changes to orange-red during fall,it may shed if the temperature is too low.

Instructions for Planting:

  1. Grow it at room temperature for best results.
  2. Move your Grape Ivy plant to brighter place for good growth.
  3. Require good watering and let 50% of the top soil to dry before watering again.
  4. With a basic houseplant food,fertilize it every other month.
  5. The ideal temperature for growth is 60-80 degrees and slows down the growth above 80 degrees.
  6. You can propagate this plant using stem cutting.
  7. It can grow in different types of soil but well drained, loamy soil is preferred for Grape Ivy.
  8. Its pH level should be between 6.2 to 7.6.

Instructions for care:

  1. If the colour changes to yellow than it simply means the plant need more food.
  2. They can not handle temperature above 90 degrees.
  3. grape Ivy grow very nicely in African Violet soil.
  4. They should not be propagated during hot summers.
  5. They grow well in partial shade to full sun.
  6. If it is warmer, that means partial sun is prefered.
