Product Description

Adenium desert rose is an extremely beautiful plant. Adenium desert rose plants are easy to grow, unique plants with a fun aspect. It is also called Desert Rose and a species of flowering plant which is evergreen and drought-deciduous succulent shrub. Adeniums are succulent, tropical plants. They develop swollen trunk (caudex) which acts like some sort of water storage system. In desert rose, the trunk swells to conserve moisture for times of drought. A nice fat trunk is an indicator of plant health and skinny stem indicates that the plant requires more water. Adeniums can significantly add to the beauty of any garden because of the large amount of flowering and the unique looking caudex. Every part of these plants like swollen stems on older plants to the bright flowers and tight clusters of narrow green leaves commands interest. When growing this plant in the house, you should be careful because its sap is poisonous and should never come into contact with children or pets. Caring for desert rose plants requires a full sun location and well-drained soil.

Instructions for planting:

  1. It can be easily grown from adenium seeds.
  2. Adenium should be planted in an area full of sun, as it ensures great flowering.
  3. Soil is very important and should have a mixture of cactus soil with coarse grit, perlite, sand and gravel for good drainage.
  4. Push the seeds you have into the soil and cover them up properly.
  5. After planting the seeds should be well-watered.
  6. If you plan to plant Adenium into the ground, choose a raised bed with sloping sides. Make sure the area is well-drained.
  7. When planted in containers, choose only terracotta or clay containers; add stones to the pot’s bottom to ensure comparatively better drainage.
  8. Try the cutting method if you have any difficulty growing Adenium from seeds.
  9. Take tip cuttings preferably 6 inches long and allow to dry for two days.
  10. Put the cutting in a container with well drained soil and water.
  11. Keep soil moist but not waterlogged.
  12. Mist the cutting daily using water in a spray bottle.
  13. Cuttings should take root in 2-6 weeks.
  14. The plant loves sun, grow it in the brightest spot of your house or garden.
  15. Give Adenium at least 6-7 hours direct sunlight daily.

Instructions for care:

  1. Plant the desert rose in an area that receives at least six hours of direct sunlight each day.
  2. For the good growth of a straight, strong stem in young plants, rotate the pot every two to three days.
  3. Desert Rose needs plenty of water but standing water can damage the plant.
  4. Water the desert rose when its soil feels almost completely dry when you insert your finger into the soil.
  5. Fertilize the plant every two weeks. Do not feed the desert rose during winter.
  6. Place the plant in a heavy pot which prevents it from falling over under its own weight.
  7. Usually pruning is done to reduce overall plant size and by removing selective branches you can give a shape for a more-perfect plant.
